Engineering Focus
Engineering breaks down the key milestones to achieve the main goals within 3 months.
Note that the ordering of the milestones do not determine the order which engineering will implement them.
TL;DR
| milestone | description |
|---|---|
| 2.1: Managing Teams Workload & Mental Context | Completing existing operational issues(replacing JodGig app links, JodGig app login issues, inconsistent account suspensions.) |
| 2.2: Platform & Tech Debt | Ensures we are not blocked from technical debt incurred from rushing out JobBoard while we build sponsored job posts. |
| 2.3: Web Presence | Allow us to create trust and necessary viewership on demand and supply-side by displaying both JobBoard and JodGig jobs. |
| 2.4: Web Analytics | Marketing will want to see performance of our web pages to strategise marketing campaigns. Instead of waiting for this request to come in, we provide the required data from the get-go. |
| 2.5: Google AdSense | Allows us to experiment with generating revenue from our viewership after we have completed Web Presence and Web Analytics. |
| 2.6: Sponsored Posts | We will build a minimal lovable product for companies to create ad campaigns on our platform/website. |
| 2.7: Jodgig Web Application | Protecting our core revenue service by providing an alternative method for applicants to use JodGig. |
Milestone 2.1: Managing Teams Workload & Mental Context
Completing existing operational issues that take our time away from creating new revenue streams
- Mobile app deep-link replacement
- Mobile app login failing
- Manual approval of job cancellation with medical certificates
- Pending UKG issues like missing job templates
Milestone 2.2: Platform & Technical Debt
Ensures we are not blocked from technical debt incurred from rushing out JobBoard while we build sponsored job posts.
Follows the principle of measure 3 times, cut once.
- Better email verification with OTPs
- Caching system to ensure fast load times
- Ability to schedule automated tasks
- Deep dive into JodBoard code base to ensure conventions are adhered to
- Determine engineering fundamentals and concepts engineers are lacking understanding in
Milestone 2.3: Web Presence
Allow us to create trust and necessary viewership on demand and supply-side by displaying both JobBoard and JodGig jobs.
Displaying gig jobs Job postings require to show JodGig jobs alongside career jobs
- Build supply-side trust
- Build demand-side viewership through displaying existing gig jobs
Search Improvement We do not want our viewership to fall off, so it's important to ensure search results are relevant to users.
SEO Optimisation In order to optimise for SEO, we need a stable and consistent view of our Job Catalog.
- This depends on Displaying gig jobs
We would need to:
- automatically generate sitemaps and upload to Google Search Console
- provide structured job data to enable Google Search Rich-Results
Milestone 2.4: Web Analytics
Marketing will want to see performance of our web pages to strategise marketing campaigns.
Clevertap
- Provides us visibility on the user journey
- How are users finding our website?
- What jobs are users searching the most?
- What jobs are least popular?
- Indication for marketing to promote these jobs to boost fulfilment.
- At which point do users drop off?
- Are users signing up?
- Where are users dropping off?
- Provides marketing user engagement like reminding users about a saved job
Google Analytics
- Allows us to send analytics data to Google Ads for them to optimise ads?
Milestone 2.5: Google AdSense
Allows us to experiment with generating revenue from our viewership after we have completed Web Presence and Web Analytics.
On top of predefined locations on the webpage where we will display Google AdSense ads, we can also display Google AdSense ads in the locations where companies will display their "sponsored posts"
- Assume we show an ad banner at the top of the job detail page.
- Since we would start with zero clients paying for ad-space, we can display an ad from Google AdSense in that same location.
- Also provides an "example" for Sales team to show clients how their campaign banners would look like.
Milestone 2.6: Sponsored Posts
We will build a minimal lovable product for companies to create ad campaigns on our platform/website.
- Selecting ad placement
- Uploading image
- Determining how long to run the campaign for
Do note that companies would want some form of reporting to determine their ROI from their spend.
- This is non-trivial and no estimate on time required at this point in time.
Milestone 2.7: JodGig Web Application
Protecting our core revenue service by providing an alternative method for applicants to use JodGig.
Maintaining current JodGig mobile app is time-consuming and taking focus away from managements core goal: Increasing Revenue
- Investment for future dev speed.
- Protect our core revenue-making service, JodGig.
- Increase probability of fulfilment by having control over JodGig applicant user flow
